The Tilted Kilt in Milford closed its doors on Nov. 17, but a company spokesperson said the eatery plans to relocate.

The Tilted Kilt opened in Milford on Oct. 22, 2013 at 290 Old Gate Lane, next door to Gipper's Restaurant & Ale House. Years ago the building first housed Bennigan’s Restaurant.

It is unclear right now where the restaurant will be moved to, but the new location will be reported online after a lease has been signed.

“Our Connecticut franchisee is in the final lease negotiation stages and is very eager to get the pub re-opened,” said a Tilted Kilt spokesperson.

According to the spokesperson, the idea for this restaurant chain began 12 years ago in Las Vegas.

“It is uniquely different than other sports bars because of its theme that combines Celtic décor, humorous and slightly bawdy limericks and sexy cast members with great food, drinks and a fun entertaining atmosphere,” said the spokesperson.

Although many people liked the Milford restaurant, there are people who were less than wild about the place.

“After eating at the Tilted Kilt for the first time, I enjoyed the overall atmosphere and theme of the restaurant, however the service and food quality I believed were less than satisfactory,” said one local woman who did not want to be named.

However, there are many fans of the restaurant who find it to be an entertaining restaurant with delicious cuisine.

“Great happy hour at Tilted Kilt! Waitress, host and bartender were all super friendly. Huge TVs make this place wonderful when there is a game on. Between that and the impressive food/great selection of drinks, Tilted Kilt won me over!” said a user on Yelp.com referring to the Milford restaurant.

According to the Tilted Kilt.com, the restaurant chain has unique items on the menu, including “The Pub Fried Egg Burger,” “Olde Dublin Irish Stew,” “Scottish Cheesesteak,” and “The TK Irish Nachos,” which contain cheese sauce made with Guinness Beer.

Happy Hour, or “Hoppy Hour” occurs all week for the majority of the night. It offers appetizers such as Whiskey Beef, Corned Beef and Cabbage Spring Rolls, and more. The bar has a variety of beer, aged whiskey, beer cocktails, wine and other mixed drinks.

It is a widespread and prominent chain that is continuing to grow, according to the company’s website.

“Currently with 100 open units in the US and Canada and 20 in development, the Tilted Kilt is known as ‘The Best Looking Sports Pub You've Ever Seen’, ” said the spokesperson.
