Snow falls in Milford: St. Patrick's Day Parade still on for Saturday
Snow is falling in Milford on Friday afternoon, but Saturday's St. Patrick's Day Parade is still on. The parade is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. Saturday from the Parsons Complex
Snow is expected to stop falling between 7 and 9 p.m. tonight, with accumulations of up to four inches.
Saturday — parade day — is expected to bring a mixture of clouds and sun, with highs around 42 degrees.
Milford's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade was initially scheduled for Saturday, March 14, but was postponed to this Saturday due to last weekend's heavy rain.
Chris Saley is this year's grand marshal, and Sarah Grace Sugrue is this year's Miss Emerald Isle.
The parade will start at the Parsons Complex at 1 p.m. and run from West Main Street to River Street to the end of the green on South Broad Street.
The parade is sponsored each year by the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, and usually attracts about 20,000 spectators.
The Literacy Center's annual Leprechaun Leap was also rescheduled, so as not to coincide with the parade. The Leap was initially scheduled for Saturday, March 21, but has been changed to Sunday, March 22 at 1 p.m., with registration from 12 to 12:45 p.m. at Walnut Beach.
