Silver Stick hockey

The Wonderland Wizards today announced that the New England Regional Silver Stick Tournament will be held at Wonderland of Ice in Bridgeport on Nov. 2-4 and from Nov. 23-25.
Committed to promoting citizenship and international good will, the Silver Stick Tournament is one of amateur sports longest running programs, commencing in 1958.
Each year the tournament brings together more than 65,000 youth hockey players, who participate in regional tournaments, each working together to earn a Silver Stick(r) championship.
The tournament’s New England Regional has been held in Bridgeport five times since 2007.
The forthcoming tournament will break attendance records for the region with 75 teams participating from New York to Maine.
“We are delighted to once again host North America’s foremost youth hockey tournament,” said Paul Shimko, Tournament Director at Wonderland of Ice.
“For over 50 years now, the Silver Stick Tournament has brought together hundreds of thousands of kids, each fostering citizenship and international goodwill through hockey.
“All of us at the Wonderland Wizards and Wonderland of Ice are incredibly proud of our partnership with this great institution.”
The winners from the New England Region advance to the Silver Stick Finals in either Port Huron, Michigan or Sarnia, Ontario in January.
The Wonderland Wizards have won the New England Regional title five times and the Mid-Atlantic Regional title twice.
More than 1,000 kids will play more than 100 games between the two tournaments. For more information, please contact Paul Shimko at
