Four state park beaches are now closed to swimming as a result of elevated bacteria counts detected by water quality testing, according to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
The four beaches – two shoreline and two inland beaches – are:
Sherwood Island, Westport
Silver Sands, Milford
Indian Well, Shelton
Kettletown, Southbury
New test samples were taken at all four locations Tuesday and results are expected tomorrow. If tests show bacteria levels have receded, the beaches can be reopened, state officials said.
