MILFORD >> Silver Sands State Park is closed for swimming through at least Tuesday because of high bacteria levels.

The water will be retested Monday with the results available Tuesday, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said.

The park still remains open, even though the swim area is closed, DEEP said.

Indian Well State Park in Shelton and Lake Waramaug State Park in Kent are also closed because of high bacteria levels. Kettletown State Park in Southbury is closed by the presence of blue green algae blooms, DEEP said.

DEEP staff collects weekly samples, which are analyzed at the state Department of Public Health lab for the presence of certain indicator bacteria.
