School board schedules budget workshops

The Milford Board of Education has four meetings in the next couple of weeks on the proposed budget for the 2014/2015 school year, kicking off the annual budget process for the City of Milford.

The meeting dates are as follows:

Jan. 13: School Supt. Dr. Elizabeth Feser will present her budget proposal at a regular Board of Education meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. in the school board conference room in the Parsons Government Center.

Jan. 15: A Board of Education budget workshop will start at 7 p.m.

Jan. 16: Another Board of Education budget workshop will start at 7 p.m., with additional workshops scheduled as needed.

Jan. 22: The Board of Education is scheduled to approve its 2014-15 budget at this meeting, which starts at 7 p.m.

This marks the beginning of the budget process, which wraps up in May. In the next few months, the Board of Finance will hold a public hearing on the proposed city and school budgets and then vote on a budget that it sees as appropriate. Next, the Board of Aldermen will take a look at the finance board- approved plan, hold another public hearing, and then review and debate until the board adopts its version, the final version, of the city spending plan for 2014-15.
