Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro was in Milford Friday at VFW Post 7788 to present the Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal to Joseph Monachelli and Rocco Parisi, and to the families of William Frost and Henry Pavlowski.

Pam Monachelli accepted the award on behalf of her husband, who was not feeling well.

Rocco Parisi and his family attended, and Parisi accepted his medal.

Edna Pavlowski accepted the medal on behalf of her late husband, and Kathleen Frost accepted the award on behalf of her late husband.

The Frost family had already received the Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal, but DeLauro presented Kathleen with a number of other medals that her late husband had earned.

The Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal is an expression of appreciation from the South Korean government to U.S. service men and women who served in the Korean War.

An eligible veteran must have served in the country during the Korean War from June 25, 1950 to July 27, 1953, or participated in UN peacekeeping operations until the end of 1955.

Members of the U.S. Navy are also eligible if they served aboard a naval vessel that was assigned to Korean waters during the 1950 to 1953 timeframe.
