No injuries were reported after a roof fire at a local tool company Thursday, Nov. 15, fire officials said in a release.

Milford fire dispatch received a 911 call at 10:49 a.m. from an employee of the Drill Masters-Eldorado Tool Company at 336 Boston Post Road. The employee reported that there was smoke inside the building due to a possible roof fire, officials said in the release.

Firefighters arrived on scene and were advised of a roofing contractor performing work on the building prior to the incident, officials said. An investigation revealed that an active smoldering fire inside the built-up roof of the structure. Fire crews opened an approximate 4-by-4-foot area with hand and power tools to expose the smoldering fire, which was quickly extinguished, according to the release.

A section of the Boston Post Road was closed to traffic while fire crews operated on the scene. Employees were allowed to return to work after firefighters deemed the building to be safe, officials said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
