UPDATE: Flashback will be performing Friday in place of the Rum Runners.

There may be some rain in the forecast for Friday, but Milford’s Kick Off to Summer event is still on, scheduled for Friday, July 8, from 4 to 11:30 p.m.

Thousands of people are expected at Lisman Landing and the surrounding harbor area in downtown Milford for the Kick Off to Summer event, which will include fireworks, food trucks and bands.

The event was initially planned for July 1, but it was postponed due to rain.

Fireworks are at 9:15 p.m. over the harbor. There will be shuttles from several locations, including the Milford Senior Center, Harborside Middle School and the Wasson Field parking lot, to Lisman Landing.

“The shuttles will make a constant loop,” said Dan Worroll, event chairman, adding that there will be no parking Friday in the commuter lots at Fowler Field or in the event area.

Two bands will perform — Michael Rea, performing Sinatra, Dean Martin and tunes of that era from 5 to 7:30 p.m., and the band Flashback from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m.

People should bring chairs.
