The annual observance of Reflections: A Tribute to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., will be held Sunday, Jan. 20 at 4 p.m. in the Milford City Hall auditorium, 110 River Street.
This is the 33rd year that the Milford Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, a women’s service organization, has sponsored the event.
The keynote speaker will be Congresswoman Jahana Hayes, who was elected to represent the Fifth District of Connecticut in November, making her the first African-American woman to ever represent the state of Connecticut in Congress. She has been recognized as a state and national Teacher of the Year.
Other invited program participants include US Senator Richard Blumenthal, US Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, State Senator James Maroney, and Milford's Mayor Benjamin Blake.
Young people will be showcased as program participants, including Foran High School’s Advanced Vocal Ensemble, Bridgeport Boys Choir and soloist, Ylé Blackburn.
A reception will immediately follow the program in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church at 28 North Street. The program is open and free to the public.
