Platt Technical High School staff and faculty recently honored former Principal Gene LaPorta for his years of service in a ceremony that included the unveiling of his portrait.
LaPorta's portrait will be permanently displayed at the school.
LaPorta retired in 2011 after a 37-year career in the Connecticut Vocational-Technical School system. He was Platt's principal since 1997, and prior to that served as a teacher, guidance counselor and assistant principal.
Sheila M. Williams is the new principal at Platt, replacing Principal Patricia DeCoster, who resigned after one year on the job.
Platt Technical High School is one of 17 regional vocational high schools in the Connecticut Technical High School System.
