Police and firefighters hold chili festival Saturday

The seventh Annual Milford Yacht Club Police & Firefighter Chili Festival to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut will take place on Saturday, April 26, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Milford Yacht Club, 131 Trumbull Avenue.

Teams representing departments from Milford, Orange, West Haven, Monroe, Fairfield and Stratford are expected to participate. The event is being organized by members of the Milford Police Department.

Tickets are $10 each for adults and $5 for children 10 years old and under. (Children 5 and under will be admitted free of charge). All are welcome.

Guests will sample each original chili recipe served by area firefighters and police and have the opportunity to vote for their favorite. A panel of local celebrities/chefs and Special Olympics athletes will serve as judges for the competition.

The Milford Yacht Club is donating the venue, staffing, soft drinks and the main ingredients for the chili recipes for all participating teams for the event, for a seventh consecutive year.

Special Olympics Connecticut provides year-round sports training and competitions for over 13,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
