UPDATE: Police had blocked off part of Seemans Lane Tuesday night as they investigated an accident in which a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle while walking her dog.

The pedestrian was hit by a car at the the intersection of Seemans Lane and Meadowside Road at 7:51 a.m. Tuesday, according to Fire Department Spokesman Greg Carman.

“The patient had minor injuries,” Carman said, “but was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for additional assessment and care.”

Police Spokesman Jeff Nielsen said the pedestrian was walking her dog in the crosswalk when she was hit by the car. The motorist was driving down Seemans Lane, and was turning left onto Meadowside when the collision occurred.

The driver was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Police did not release the names of the people involved in the accident. Nielsen said the dog was not injured.
