Participants to help walk entire city for Walk Milford Challenge
Walks with Buddy, Inc. and the Milford Prevention Council will host the Walk Milford Challenge on Sept. 9.
The purpose of the Challenge is to raise awareness and funds for mental health and suicide prevention.
The goal is to have participation from the community to walk the entire City of Milford in under two hours.
The Walk Milford Challenge consists of 166 pre-planned routes covering approximately two miles each. Participants pick out and purchase a route for $20 that covers their neighborhood or any of the other pre-planned routes they want to walk. All participants will begin their walks at 9 a.m., and will use the “Map My Walk” app to track the streets walked. Once participants complete their walks, they will take a screenshot of the map of the walk in the app and email it in to Walks with Buddy, Inc.
Then walkers will gather at Fowler Field for photos and a raffle.
Organizers say this event is unique “because no one has ever attempted to gather a community to walk an entire city in just a couple of hours for the purpose of raising awareness and funds for a cause.”
