Orange police warn residents to secure homes after 3 residential burglaries

ORANGE — Police are investigating three residential burglaries that occurred Thursday and are reminding residents to take precautions and keep their doors and windows locked.

Police responded first to an activated burglar alarm at a residence on Cherry Hill Road at 11:03 a.m. and found that a burglar forced their way into the home through a rear door. Police said nothing was reported missing from the residence.

Then, at 11:52 a.m., an alarm was reported at a residence on Deer Run Lane. Police found a rear slider door had been entered. A jewelry box reportedly was taken from the residence and a dog may have prevented the person or persons from spending more time inside, police said. A witness later reported they had observed a smaller black sedan leaving the driveway of the residence, police said.

Later, at 5 p.m. a resident on Wheeler Farm’s Road arrived home and discovered their residence had been forcibly entered during the day. A window had been broken, police said. There was some jewelry taken from the residence, police said.
