Open house planned at Milford Marine Institute

The Milford Marine Institute is planning two Saturday open houses from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on May 31 and June 7 at the Gulf Pond Museum on Shadyside Lane.

The museum is entered through the gate of the old wastewater site.

Besides the usual mollusks, artifacts, fish, sharks, mammals, reptiles, minerals, fossils and birds at the observatory there will be a display of Native American objects: A native bow, arrow, war clubs, and 19th century native decorated woodsplint baskets.

Each child attending will receive a sharks tooth. Call 203-874-4000 for further information or to register for Marine Biology, Archaeology, or Bird Identification Camps.
