New Canaan vs. Wilton

Third-seeded New Canaan (13-3 overall 9-2 FCIAC) had a hot start to the season, winning its first nine games. That included wins over nationally-ranked Loyola Blakefield of Maryland and Brunswick School, as well as an 11-2 romp over the Warriors are Wilton’s Fujitani Field.

Since that start, however, the Rams have been scuffling, going just 4-3 over the last seven games of the regular season. In their final two games, they lost to two more nationally-ranked teams, 8-3 to St. Anthony’s of New York, and 7-3 to Ridgefield, the No. 2 seed in the FCIAC playoffs.

Wilton (12-4, 8-3) got off to a relatively slow start at 4-3 through seven games, but finished well. The Warriors won eight of their last nine games, with the lone defeat coming in overtime against Ridgefield, 7-6.

Heading into the postseason, Wilton is riding a four-game winning streak that includes an impressive 11-9 road win against Yorktown, N.Y., on May 11.
