Local businessman Greyson Schwing has launched a ‘challenge’ contest that will plant thousands of dollars in benefits into the coffers of a few local non-profit charities.

The program, ‘Extreme Charity Makeover’ will benefit the winner with a $10,000 marketing and website makeover, a grant for $10,000 in Google Adwords credit, and a fundraising party event at Harbor Arena on Dec. 7. Two runners up will receive a new website and some proceeds from the fundraising party.

According to Schwing, “I wanted to celebrate my fifth year business anniversary by giving back to the community in a positive way. There are so many non-profits who need help with their online presence and marketing, yet have no budget for these items. I brainstormed with my Antelope Web team and we crafted an idea for a unique contest to benefit one winning non-profit in a big way.”

The Extreme Charity Makeover contest is open to any legitimate (501c3) charity in New Haven or Fairfield County. To date, 15 non-profits have been nominated as contestants: Milford Historical Society, Young Parent Program of Milford, Connecticut Challenge, VFW-7788 in Devon, United Way of Milford, The Kennedy Center, Literacy Center of Milford, Children’s Community Programs of CT, Boys and Girls Club of Milford, the Milford Chamber of Commerce Trust Fund, Good Shepherd and East Shore Child Development Centers, Milford Relay for Life, Bodie’s Place, Junior League of Greater New Haven, and Beth-El Center Milford .

Nominations are still open and online voting is underway – those wishing to support a charity can go online to extremecharitymakeover.us and click the ‘vote now’ button. One vote per person per day is allowed.
