New York man accused of assaulting juvenile in Milford motel

A New York man is in Milford police custody for allegedly sexually assaulting a juvenile in a Milford motel room in September.

Milford police issued an arrest warrant for Donovan Gayle, 44 of Hempstead, N.Y., charging him with risk of injury and sexual assault. Police said they had received a complaint in September that a juvenile victim had been transported by Gayle to a motel in Milford.
While at the motel, Gayle allegedly engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with the victim, resulting in a warrant being issued for Gayle's arrest. Investigators also learned that Gayle was a registered sex offender in the state of New York. Police said Gayle was familiar with his victim.
Detectives from the New York City Police Department District Attorney Squad apprehended Gayle on Oct. 10 regarding the arrest warrant. On Oct. 17, Gayle waived extradition and was subsequently transported to Connecticut, where he was to be arraigned at Milford Superior Court.
Gayle is charged with risk of injury, disorderly conduct and fourth-degree sexual assault. Bond was set at $150,000.
