St. Vincent's Health Services is expanding its services in Milford and held a grand opening of the new St. Vincent's Milford Health & Wellness Center Monday afternoon.
Located at 199 Cherry Street in Milford Plaza, in what was once the Blockbuster Video store, the building houses St. Vincent's sixth Urgent Care Clinic.
Leaders from St. Vincent's and the City of Milford officially opened the clinic with a ribbon cutting ceremony and blessing Monday at 1:30 p.m.
Speakers Monday included Stuart Marcus, president and CEO of St. Vincent’s Medical Center; Dr. Frank Scifo, medical director of St. Vincent’s Multi Specialty Group; Chris Willey, executive director of operations for St. Vincent’s Multi Specialty Group; Mayor Ben Blake and others.
“Today is about Milford,” Marcus said. “St. Vincent’s is expanding its footprint in Milford for the benefit of this community.
“As health care changes,” Marcus continued, “it no longer becomes about the four walls of the hospital. When you follow that ‘H’ symbol on the highway you usually end up at a hospital, but in today’s new world of health care that ‘H’ stands for health care system.”
Guests are invited to the clinic Monday night from 5 to 7 p.m. for an open house. There will be treats from Mr. Softee as well as a tour of the facility.
The new Urgent Care Clinic will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Individuals may walk in without an appointment or schedule a time online at planMYcare.com.
This is the third major expansion of St. Vincent's, following January's opening of the St. Vincent's Health Check Clinic at Oronoque, located inside Stratford's Oronoque Pharmacy and the opening of the Stratford Health and Wellness Center in February.
