ND's Pfau, Jallat honored as scholar athletes
Notre Dame-West Haven’s Dan Pfau and Nick Jallat were among the 12 student-athletes from seven high school to be named The SportsCenter of Connecticut/Southern Connecticut Conference Scholar Athletes of the Month for November.
Student athletes that are selected must be a varsity letter winner and have a 3.0/B average while demonstrating leadership qualities such as: being a positive role model; helping teammates overcome adversity; showing a commitment to self-improvement; or putting the needs of the team before themselves.
Sports Center of CT/SCC Scholar Athlete of the Month recipients receive a certificate, commemorative T-shirt and a SportsCenter of Connecticut activity pass.
Pfau, a member of the Green Knights’ state championship football squad, has been an exemplary student in the classroom. Pfau sports a 90.9 grade-point average and is a member of the National and Spanish honor societies.
He serves as a Peer Counselor and contributes to the ND Literary Magazine.
Pfau played a wide receiver and defensive back this fall as the Green Knights won the SCC Division I East and state Class L titles.
“Dan is a motivated hard-working student and athlete,” Notre Dame football coach and athletic director Tom Marcucci said. “He has persevered in his high school career — overcoming a serious injury to earn a starting role this fall. He is a credit to the Notre Dame high school community.”
Jallat, a three-sport (cross country, indoor and outdoor track) participant, has excelled in the classroom. Jallat has a 90.1 grade-point average and is a member of the National Honor Society. He is a member of the Latin Club and serves as a Peer Counselor.
Jallat served as captain of the Green Knights’ cross country squad this fall.
