Mllford Rotarian Eric Tashlein receives Norman K. Parsells Award
MILFORD >> The Norman K. Parsells Award is presented annually to a local Rotarian to honor Norman’s memory and spirit. A dedicated Rotarian, Norman Parsell is remembered as a dedicated Rotarian who truly lived Rotary’s idea of “Service Above Self.” The Rotary Club of Milford recently recognized Eric A. Tashlein for his many years of service to Rotary and to the broader community.
As last year’s president, Tashlein was instrumental in securing Milford’s first local grant to help improve the local Boys and Girls Club lounge and study areas. He helped to fund an organic garden at St. Gabriel’s school and the Club funded over $28,000 in college scholarships to high school seniors. Eric worked with the City of Milford to upgrade Milford Rotary signage around town and led efforts to update the Club website. Though his term as Club President has ended, Eric continues to volunteer, serving as the Milford Rotary’s membership committee chair, serving hot meals at the Beth El Homeless Shelter and assisting at major Rotary fundraisers.
“Whenever there is a need in Milford Rotary, Eric is there,” said Tina DeNapoles, current Milford Rotary President. “Eric makes new members feel especially welcome in the Club and helps them find their niche. Because Eric has worked on pretty much every project of the Club, he is well regarded and has a deep understanding of what’s possible. His commitment to ‘Service above Self’ continues to inspire our membership and those Rotary’s efforts touch.”
