Art Doyle and Bob Daniels of the New Haven Mineral Club will speak about the rich geological history of Connecticut at the Milford Library on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m.
The presentation will focus on the formation of minerals and fossils in the state. Some 230 million years ago, Connecticut was connected to Africa, and early dinosaurs roamed the land. Volcanic activity was forming West Rock, East Rock, Sleeping Giant and the Higby Mountain range.
The discussion will include examples of mineral specimens and fossils that can be found in various localities throughout Connecticut.
Doyle and Daniels also will discuss an upcoming field trip to Case Quarry in Portland, Connecticut. Call Bob Daniels at 203-876-1192 or e-mail him at earth06461@gmail.com for more information.
