Milford spotlight on holiday events this weekend
Children’s Concert — The Milford Family Resource Center will hold its Children’s Holiday Concert featuring The Learning Station Saturday, Dec. 6, from 11 a.m. to noon at Mathewson Elementary School, 466 West River Street. Before and after the concert — 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — children can visit with Santa. Snacks will be available for a small fee. Tickets are $5 in advance, and $6 at the door. Children under 2 are free. Christmas spectacular — The public is invited to the Saint Ann Christmas Spectacular on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Parish Center, 499 Naugatuck Avenue. Visitors will enter a charming Dickens Village where talented crafters will offer their wares and Victorian-clad choristers will carol through the lanes. Ye Olde Bake Shoppe will offer treats and take home desserts. Auction, raffles, etc. For information call 203-874-0634.
Christmas fair — The United Church of Christ in Devon at the corner or Pequot and Ormond Streets will hold its 73rd annual Christmas fair Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Handmade gifts, personalized ornaments, baked goods, tea cup raffle, pictures with Santa, tag sale and cookie walk. Christmas Bazaar — Saturday, Dec. 6, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wildermere Beach Church,133 Broadway, Christmas Bazaar & Cookie Stroll featuring the Wildermere Beach Tinsel Cafe and Santa’s Craft Workshop. The Tinsel Cafe lunch menu features homemade soups, sandwiches, chili and cornbread, hot dogs, hot apple cider, hot chocolate and more. Enjoy music and entertainment while shopping at vendor tables. Cookie Walk Fair — Mary Taylor Church is hosting a Cookie Walk /Craft, Christmas Trash n Treasures Sale Saturday Dec. 6 at 9:30 am. An extensive variety of fresh backed homemade cookies will be offered for sale. Pay for an empty container offered in 3 different sizes and walk alongside the tables to fill your can with an assortment of cookies you select. The cookie walk offers traditional cookies such as chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin and other favorites. The ‘walkin’ hours begin at 9:30 a.m. until the cookies are gone. The church is located on the Milford Green at 176 Broad Street.
Holiday concert — The annual holiday concert in honor of the late Mayor Frederick Lisman will take place Sunday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m. at Milford City Hall. Volunteers, led by Linda Whittaker, will present a concert including Stephen Tieszen, New Haven Symphony Orchestra and String Quartet; Foran High School Choir with Director Theresa Voss and Gary Hargen, tenor soloist.
Breakfast with Santa — Have breakfast with Santa on Sunday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Saint Ann Parish Center Hall, 499 Naugatuck Avenue. Pancakes, music of the Pumpkin Delight School Choir, and meet the Bridgeport Sound Tiger. The event will also feature a variety of games and activities. Breakfast with Santa — Sunday Dec, 7 from 7:30 a.m. -11:30 a.m. at St. Mary School, 72 Gulf Street. There will be a pancake breakfast, photos with Santa, storytime with Mrs. Claus, student handmade crafts for sale, and raffling off of 10 decorated mini Christmas trees with themes like Frozen, American Girl, Hockey, Coach and Family Night Out.
