A man with Milford ties and his Milford sons appeared on the Rachael Ray Show Monday morning. Dad, Ian Cook, got a makeover.

According to the Rachael Ray website, “We're kicking off the week with a man makeover so overdue, it was requested by the viewer's ex-wife! She claims her ex-husband looks like Gandalf from 'The Lord of the Rings,' and it's up to our good friend Kyan Douglas to give him a brand-new look to match today's trends.”

Karen Cook’s twin 16-year-old sons, who live with Karen in Milford, reportedly were concerned about their father’s looks, so they and Karen good-naturedly wrote in asking for the makeover.

Ian Cook, who works for a utility company, lives in Stamford. His son Benjamin Cook is a junior at Foran, and Cameron Cook is a junior at the Bridgeport Military Academy.

The family went to New York City for the taping two weeks ago, and the show aired Monday morning at 10 a.m.

On the show, Rachael Ray called the makeover a “manover,” and said it was time for Cook to get rid of the wizard look.

When Cook walked out on stage, minus the long hair but rather with a short, neat cut, wearing hiking boots and dark jeans, she and Douglas agreed the look suited him.

“He really is a good looking dude,” Ray said.

Cook said he liked the look too, and his family agreed. Earlier in the show, it was noted that he agreed to the “manover” because he wanted his sons to be as proud of him as he is of them.
Karen Cook commented on air that when he walked out on stage, “he looked like someone from TV.”

The segment ended with Ian Cook embracing his sons on stage.

Karen said her sons are very pleased with their father’s new look.

“The boys could not take their eyes off of Ian on the train ride home and kept saying how great he looks,” Karen said.
