MILFORD — What will the Milford Public School district ‘look like’ in the next 5 years? 10 years?

Enrollment in the Milford Public Schools has been on the decline for several years — and it is projected to continue in the years to come. Obviously, enrollment directly impacts the school district in many ways — for now and into the future — including the areas of staffing, facilities, configuration, programming and budget.

In order to plan ahead in a thoughtful, purposeful, and responsible way, the Long Range Planning Committee was formed last year and has been working under the guidance of Milone and MacBroom for the past 7 months.

This committee is comprised of parent representatives from each school in Milford, as well as Milford Public School administrators, elected officials, and members of the community. Their work has included the deep review of substantial amounts of material, data, and statistics — all central to future Milford Public Schools planning.

It is expected that the Long Range Planning Committee will formulate a set of recommendations and forward them to the elected Board of Education in March for their review.

In order to further assist the Long Range Planning Committee in their work, an online survey has been prepared and uploaded to the district website, www.milforded.org. All members of the public are also welcome to answer the survey and share their thoughts there. The survey will remain active through Friday, Feb 7. Milone & MacBroom will be responsible for collecting and organizing the resulting survey data.
