MILFORD >> St. Mary School’s first-graders took a field trip to the Knights of Columbus Museum in New Haven and decorated their Christmas tree with their handmade ornaments.

Each tree is decorated by a local Catholic school, and this year St. Mary’s theme was to use ornaments based on Germany. They included felt gingerbread men, watercolor paintings of the German landscape, paper Christmas trees with sparkles and sequins, Jesus in a manger, and sparkly round ornaments — all made by the students.

They also took a tour of the exhibits, created a craft and had hot cocoa and doughnuts.
