Milford’s sewer line crew honored for diligent work
The sewer line crew in the Wastewater Division within the Department of Public Works has been named employees of the month for July.
The selection committee chose the team from the Wastewater Division as the winners for their dedicated service and outstanding customer service, city officials said in a prepared news release.
Craig George, Gary Brown, Dan Sennett and Nick Digioia make up the City of Milford’s sewer line crew and they ensure on a daily basis that the 225 miles of the city’s sanitary sewer lines are properly maintained.
George, as supervisor of technical services, and Brown, Sennett and Digioia as sewer line mechanics, work as a cohesive team, city officials said. They perform routine daily maintenance as well as address any emergencies that may arise.
In their jobs, they perform all scheduled jet cleaning and inspections of sewer lines, frequent cleaning of areas with a history of stoppages, televised camera inspections, and smoke testing for illegal connections. The crew clears mainline and lateral blockages.
“Craig, Gary, Dan and Nick work in a professional manner at all times and their work ethic is evident,” city officials said. “They are assets to the Wastewater Division of Public Works as well as the City of Milford. They always work as a unified team and get the job done efficiently and effectively.”
Sumner Johnston, the Working Leader, is also a member of the team and was part of the nomination. However, as a member of the selection committee he recused himself from participating in the vote and selection.
“Nonetheless, his efforts and hard work are commendable,” city officials said. “He is an integral part of the sewer line crew and the city certainly appreciates him and all his contributions.”
