Milford's community block grant coordinator resigns

Milford’s Community Block Grant coordinator Tom Ivers has resigned his job and his last day is Friday.

Ivers has been involved in many projects in Milford, from securing grants for community projects to overseeing energy efficient upgrades, helping people secure low-cost housing loans and helping storm victims wade through paperwork for government aid.

Ivers didn’t elaborate on the reason for his resignation, but for many years he had a good working relationship with Robert Gregory, who headed the community development office in which Ivers works.

Gregory retired and his job was taken over by Julie Nash. Some officials say the working relationship between Ivers and Nash was strained due to different work philosophies.

Ivers said that at Mayor Ben Blake’s request, he may continue to advise the city on energy matters.
