The 41st juried Meet the Artists and Artisans show in Olde Mistick Village's orchard will take place July 26 and 27 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Labor Day weekend Aug. 30 and 31 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Monday, Sept. 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show is run by Milford resident Denise Morris Curt.
Participating artists include Ping Guo and his wife, who stretch silk cloth on a frame, drawing their pattern upon it, and then begin their ancient art of embroidering with colorful silk thread to produce images of pets, gardens and more from photos.
Michael McCarthy returns carving life sized shore birds from blocks of wood.
Exuberant acrylic colors and subjects are painted on canvas in contemporary, lively Fauvist styles by Ronet Noe of Milford.
The lost art of Peruvian Point is practiced by Evelyn Villegas as she creates intricate sterling silver jewelry; Fran Henderson uses oil paints to capture fogbound Nantucket in its serenity, and Joe Reboe brings his shoulder bags, briefcases, wallets, belts and messenger bags of quality leather hides.
Forrest Doyle incorporates 2,000-year-old Kauri wood taken from a New Zealand bog into his artistic cutting boards, and Don Hart creates writing implements — pens and pencils — from exotic woods.
Many other artists will participate, bringing watercolors on nautical charts, oversized, framed canvases of coastal New England, seascapes and harbors, wild life, and floral studies; copper and brass wall sculptures of birds, fish, flowers and trees.
Photographers include David DelBiondo, whose photos feature underwater marine life of the Caribbean; Brian Lee, who participated in an Ecuadorian research/ conservation biodiversity workshop of Amazon Rainforest creatures, and the Connecticut Limner, whose work features archaic architecture, romantic refuges, grand escapes and palaces.
There also will be handcrafted soaps, clothing and candles; jewelry, stoneware and more.
