Milford police dog gets body armor
MILFORD >> A local police dog has been awarded a ballistic vest by an anonymous donor from a nonprofit organization, officials said Monday.
Police dog Mack’s vest will be embroidered with the sentiment “This gift of protection provided by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.”
Mack is a 2-year-old German shepherd, who is handled by Officer Steve Napoletano of the Milford Police Department’s K-9 Unit, police said in a release.
Mack is certified as a patrol canine in evidence recovery, tracking people of interest, building searchers and other law enforcement related functions, police said.
The K-9 unit functions to support police field operations by providing Milford with “the most professional and highly trained team that is mentally and physically capable,” the city’s website says.
