Milford police confiscate drugs worth $33,000

Milford police arrested a Bronx, N.Y., man Dec. 17 on drug and weapon charges.

Police said Guiseppe Berardi, 28, of Bronx, N.Y., is charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana within 1,500 feet of a school, operating a drug factory, and criminal possession of  a firearm.

In November, members of the Milford Police Department Narcotics & Vice Unit and the Bridgeport Drug Enforcement Agency Office initiated an investigation regarding suspected drug trafficking activity involving Berardi. On Dec. 17, detectives located Berardi in Milford.

With the assistance of the Milford Police Department's K9 “Cedar”, detectives reportedly found Berardi in possession of approximately five pounds of high-grade marijuana. At a separate location, detectives seized an additional six pounds of the same grade marijuana and a 9 mm firearm with ammunition, according to a police press release. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $33,000.

Berardi was held in police custody on $100,000 bond.

Police did not release details about where or how Berardi was allegedly selling the drugs.
