MILFORD — A Middletown man was charged Monday with hitting a man with his car after a basketball game, according to police.

Brian Kessler, 33, of Middletown, turned himself in on an arrest warrant stemming from an incident on June 28, the Milford Police Department said in a news release.

A man told police he had a fight with Kessler during a basketball game at Parsons Government Center. After the game, while the man was standing outside and talking on his phone, “he was intentionally struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Kessler,” according to police.

Kessler then fled the area while the man received medical attention for his injuries. Police did not specify the extent to which he was wounded.

Kessler was charged with second-degree assault and evading responsibility. He was held on $25,000 bond and has since been released from custody. He is next scheduled to appear in court in Milford on Sept. 6.
