Milford police: Handgun found under floor mat during traffic stop

MILFORD >> A Bridgeport man was arrested Monday after police say they found a gun in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Geovanny Sierzant, 23, was pulled over at about 5 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Schoolhouse Road and Bridgeport Avenue for an alleged equipment violation.

In addition to the gun, police also found Sierzant did not have insurance or a valid registration, police spokesman Officer Joseph Dempsey said Tuesday in a release.

Sierzant, who lives in the 500 block of Huntington Turnpike, was charged with possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, misuse of a license plate, driving without insurance and driving without valid registration. He was released on a promise to appear Nov. 29 in Milford Superior Court.
