Update: A person was struck and killed by an Amtrak train at the Stratford Metro-North station Wednesday morning. The person was a 38-year-old Milford man, but his name has not yet been released, railroad officials said.

The person was hit at about 8:27 a.m. Wednesday by an Amtrak train heading from Washington D.C. to Boston, said Aaron Donovan, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Donovan said the train was traveling on Track 2, one of the middle tracks that is not near the platform. The train was due in Boston at 11:05 a.m.

Metro-North service was suspended between 8:59 a.m and 9:20 a.m.
