A 19-year-old Milford man was shot in Wallingford Thursday, according to Wallingford police. Police have not released the man’s name.

According to a report, on Thursday, May 5 at approximately 8:56 p.m. Wallingford Police received a 911 call from a man stating that he got shot and was currently in the parking lot of 57 Hall Road, Cook Hill Elementary School.

Responding officers found a man with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. During the initial investigation, police learned that the shooting occurred at CT Beverage Mart, located at 1070 North Colony Road. The victim was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The victim — the 19-year-old Milford resident — and his 18-year-old companion from Bridgeport were at CT Beverage Mart to meet up with another individual, later determined to be the suspect. During the meeting, the suspect shot the victim as the two were speaking on the side of CT Beverage Mart, police said. The victim’s companion did an Internet search for the nearest hospital and drove the victim to Gaylord Hospital, believing he could get treatment there, police said.

After arriving at Gaylord and being turned away, the victim called 911 and the dispatcher told them to pull over, essentially into the parking lot of Cook Hill School.

The investigation continued throughout the evening. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Fairbrother at 203-294-2845.
