MILFORD — A firefighter was injured and seven residents were displaced Saturday afternoon in a fire in a condo complex, officials said.

Firefighters were called to the 300 block of Foxwood Lane shortly after 5:20 p.m., offiicals said. Because of the rapidly extending fire, a second alarm was transmitted, drawing addtional crews to the scene. West Haven Fire Department and Stratford Fire Department assisted with station coverage during the fire.

Fire officials said that the crews arrived in less than six minutes and firefighters reported a “heavy fire showing” that extended into the attic.

Firefighters operated quickly to confine and extinguish the fire, officials said. One firefighter received a second-degree burn to his hand and shoulder and was treated and transported to Bridgeport Hospital and has been released, according to officials.

The residents that were displaced received assistance from the Red Cross, fire officials said.

The fire is currently under investigation by members of the Milford Fire Department Fire Investigation unit.
