MILFORD >> The First Baptist Church Clothes Closet, 28 North St., has added a second day when clothing donations will be accepted for the needy.

It will be open 10 a.m.-1 p.m. the first and second Saturdays of the month, in addition to 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays.

The Clothes Closet opened in May 2002. Clothing and children’s books, gently used, are available for free. Since January, more than 1,000 people have received clothing.

The First Baptist pastor-elect, the Rev. Horace A. Hough, has encouraged the extension of the service hours to better meet the needs of the community.

“Simply opening our Clothes Closet doors one more day a week may provide an extra window of opportunity for someone to have the means to clothe themselves, their family and their children,” he said.

The church, in the city’s historic district and between the two Duck Ponds, has been a member of the Milford community since 1893.
