The Summer Cinema Series sponsored by the Downtown Milford Business Association kicked off its annual program Thursday, July 12.

This free popular event presents four box office hits throughout the summer months. The event is held at the Fowler Pavilion (1 Shipyard Lane) and opens at 6 p.m.; the movies begin at approximately 8 p.m. Opening night featured ET the Extraterrestrial, as residents picnicked beneath starry skies.

“We’re thrilled to bring back this event,” said Tracy Bonosconi, President of the Downtown Milford Business Association. “Longer summer days mean more time to spend together with family and friends, and we’re grateful to be able to bring the town together with fun, free summer events like this one.”

The Downtown Milford Business Association (DMBA) is comprised of more than 100 businesses located in the Downtown Milford area and includes retail, services, and restaurants which are committed to working together to create a strong, viable downtown.

The Association’s mission is to ‘bring attention to our beautiful downtown with all its unique amenities inviting you to shop, dine and play.”

Residents are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and refreshments. Vendors and food trucks will also be onsite for those preferring to purchase refreshments. The movie schedule features on July 19, Home Alone; July 26, Jurassic Park; and Aug. 2, Ghostbusters.

“We hope to see you soon,” added the DMBA. “So we can share our beautiful downtown — the heartbeat of the small city with a big heart.” Visit www.DowntownMilfordCT.org for more information.
