BRIDGEPORT — Milford police are investigating the death of a Bridgeport police sergeant Saturday night as a suicide.

The sergeant was found at his home in Milford, according to Bridgeport Police Chief Armando Perez.

“We don’t know the circumstances. We don’t know what happened,” the chief said, adding that since it happened in Milford, police there are handling the active investigation.

Shortly before 8 p.m., Bridgeport’s police sergeants working Saturday night were called to gather at headquarters. Perez said that’s when they were told the news.

“It can’t get any worse,” Perez said.
