Milford Merit scholars announced
School officials announced last week that three Milford high school students have been named National Merit commended scholars by the College Board.
They are Geroan DeGuzman and Victor Korman of Joseph A. Foran High School and Priya R. Gupta of Jonathan Law High School.
High school students become eligible for the National Merit program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), a test taken by 1.6 million U.S. high school students each year.
The test is usually given to students in their sophomore or junior year in high school and is administered through the College Board. Only 3.1 percent of all students taking the PSAT/NMSQT exam nationwide earned the title of National Merit Commended Scholar.
