Preschool story time — Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 a.m. Stories and a craft. For ages 3 and up with a caregiver.
Toddler time — Every Wednesday at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. For ages 2 and under with a caregiver.
Kind storytimes — Tuesday, May 12 at 10 a.m. In honor of One City One Story initiative.
One City, One Story — Monday, May 11 at 6 p.m., Wonder Book Club for Kids. Snacks, activities and discussion to celebrate Auggie and his story. Call 203-783-3312 or stop by the Children's Department to register.
Creative Writing — Wednesday, May 13, 6 to 7:30 p.m., Creative Writing Club for Tweens, ages 9-13. In honor of One City, One Story, there will be “Wonder”-ful prompts and activities. ALL skill levels are welcome. Call 203-783-3312 to register.
The Invisible Boy — Saturday, May 16, at 11 a.m. The Invisible Boy: Brian’s Sidewalk Chalk Extravaganza. Brian has always felt invisible at school, but his colors shine through when a new student arrives. Read the story and then fill the library sidewalks with colorful chalk-art.
Chess Club — Tuesday, May 12, from 6 to 7 p.m., sponsored by Milford's Promise and The Milford Police Union, the Chess Club is for players of all levels from kindergarten to high school to play in a relaxed and non-competitive environment. Sets will be provided (or you may bring your own). Instruction for beginners is available. The club will meet the second Tuesday of the month. Register by calling 203-783-3312.
Stay and Play Thursday — Thursday, May 14 and May 28 from 10 a.m. to noon. Stop by the library and play board games, build with Legos, do a simple art activity or play floor puzzles.
Horseshoe Crabs: Project limulus — Wednesday, May 27 at 7 p.m. Learn about horseshoe crabs. Find out how all ages can be part of Project Limulus, a community-based effort to help protect the horseshoe crab and the Long Island Sound Ecosystem.

Paws to Read — Saturday, May 30 at 2:30 p.m. For children in grades K-5. Kids are invited to read out loud to dogs. Space is limited and registration is required. All therapy dogs and their handlers are certified through Reading Assistance Education Dogs (R.E.A.D).
The Woodmont Library, 16 Dixon Street, is open Thursday: 10 a.m. to noon and 6:30 to 9 p.m.; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. Call 203-874-5675.
Book group: The Morning Book Discussion Group will meet Thursday, May 7, 10:30 a.m. at the Ellen Aftamonow Woodmont Library. The book for May is The Children Act, by Ian McEwan. The book for June is The Girl on the Train, by Paula Hawkins.
