Milford Hospital wins industry award
MILFORD >> The Advanced Wound Center at Milford Hospital has been recognized with a national award for continued excellence in wound healing.
Leaders, physicians and clinicians from Milford Hospital gathered recently to celebrate the Center of wide Distinction award, which was given to the Advanced Wound Center at Milford Hospital by Healogics, a nation’s wound care management company.
The Milford Hospital center has achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, and a wound healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 31 median days. Out of 630 centers eligible for the award, 334 achieved the honor in 2017.
“Milford Hospital is proud to have a wound center that has received national recognition for high quality patient outcomes and exemplary patient satisfaction. Our specially trained and dedicated nurses, physicians, and support staff at Milford Hospital is committed to the advanced treatment, healing and prevention of chronic, non-healing wounds,” said Joseph Pelaccia, president and CEO.
The center is a member of the Healogics network of nearly 800 centers, with access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating about 2.5 million chronic wounds. It offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds that have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Some of the treatments offered at the center include negative pressure wound therapy, debridement, application of cellular-based tissue or skin substitutes to the wound, offloading or total contact casts and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
“The Center of Distinction award not only represents the patient positive outcomes of the Milford Hospital wound center, but also the teamwork responsible for these type of results,” said Christina Newton, program director of the center. “We are fortunate to have a committed and caring staff who are truly dedicated to our patients.”
