Milford Festival of Lights, tree lighting are free
MILFORD >> The annual Festival of Lights and Tree Lighting will be held for free Friday, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 25 on the Green.
The city and the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce are presenting the festivities.
The festival starts at 5:30 with holiday music at the Gazebo presented by the Milford Concert Band and DJ Shelia. The Milford Bank, adjacent to the Green will offer winter-theme activities for all ages outside of the downtown branch on 33 Broad St. Also, the Devon Rotary Club will hand out free hot chocolate, and candy canes will be given by the Downtown Merchants Business Association.
The tree lighting kicks off at 6:30 at the Gazebo with the arrival of a firetruck from Milford Firefighters Union IAFF Local 944 carrying Santa Claus. Mayor Benjamin G. Blake and Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce representatives will pulling the switch on the lights on the Green trees. Then Santa Claus will take time to sit with all the boys and girls. A line for children to meet Santa will be set up outside the Gazebo.
“We are very happy to sponsor the annual Festival of Lights and Tree Lighting,” said attorney Christopher Carveth, chairman of the Milford Chamber of Commerce Trust. “The Milford Chamber Trust is a nonprofit that was formed to give back to Milford the community in many ways, and this event is a wonderful fit with our mission.”
