Milford City Clerk Candidate: Joanne Lasse Rohrig

Joanne Lasse Rohrig

Candidate for: City Clerk

Incumbent: Yes

Current Job: Incumbent City Clerk for the City of Milford (since 2014)

Education: Jonathan Law High School, Stone School of Business, Certified Connecticut Town Clerk

Top issue: As the incumbent City Clerk since 2014, I have led the transformation of the City Clerk's office. Through technological enhancements and citizen user friendly programs, I will continue to bring the office procedures forward for the best of the community. I have an open door policy and always willing to help my constituents.

Other issues: The office of the City Clerk should be a non-partisan position. The office acts as a liaison for all of the citizens. The elected position requires experience, transparency and a knowledge of the history of Milford far beyond what textbooks offer. My experience coupled with my personal goal of meeting the needs of all my fellow citizens offers my candidacy a unique opportunity for the City of Milford, my hometown.

Family: I grew up in Milford in a small apartment with my four siblings above my parent's restaurant. All of them still live or work in Milford. I have four grown children who have remained in Milford along with one grandson. We cherish our history, our connections, our friendships and our outreach of affiliations in Milford, "A Small City With a Big Heart"

Elected offices or community groups: United Way Board of Directors (2012 - present) Milford Oyster Festival Committee, Vice President and Chairperson (2005-present) New Haven Town Clerk Association (2014-present) Connecticut Town Clerk Association (2014-present) Minority chairman of the Board of Education (2005-2009)
