Mayor and school superintendent join Rotary to serve meals to needy

To honor Martin Luther King, Mayor Ben Blake and School Supt. Dr. Elizabeth Feser this week joined Devon Rotarians Greyson Schwing, Erika Shea, Howard Sadinski and Priscilla Lynn at the Rotary’s monthly service date at the Beth-El Center in Milford.

Dr. Feser and the mayor helped prepare and serve more than 50 meals at the soup kitchen. A hearty lunch of lasagna, meatballs, garlic bread and fresh salad, prepared by Lasse’s Restaurant in Milford, was served.  Mayor Blake also held an impromptu question and answer session with lunch attendees.

Each month local Rotary clubs serve lunch at the Beth-El Center. The partnership between the Devon and Milford clubs helped serve over 1,500 meals last year.

The Interact Club, which is comprised of students from local Milford high schools, also participates in these service dates. Students earn service hours which qualify them for additional honors and grants provided by Rotary.

Beth-El Center serves lunch every weekday at no cost to diners.
