Man's body pulled from Housatonic River
Friday, 4 p.m.: The body of an 80-year-old man was pulled from the Housatonic River today, according to Stratford police.
Police did not release the victim's identity, pending notification of next of kin.
Rescue crews originally responded to a report of a body near the Washington Bridge between Stratford and Devon.
The man was taken to Bridgeport Hospital after being brought ashore at Birdseye Boat Launch in Stratford.
There are no signs of foul play Stratford police said that although the investigation is not complete, it appears the death may be accidental.
Friday, 1:12 p.m.: A body has been pulled from the Housatonic River shortly after 1 p.m. Friday, June 21.
Police, fire and EMS officials were in the water near The Dock shopping plaza on Ferry Boulevard shortly after reports that body was floating in the water.
Officials at the scene are revealing no information.
Doingitlocal.com reported that a vessel sank near the Moses Wheeler Bridge earlier today. It is not know if the body is connected to that sinking.
