BRIDGEPORT — A Waterbury man was charged after police said he was identified as a man who sexually assaulted a teenaged girl on a city bus.

Michael Butler, 25, was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and breach of peace.

He was being held in lieu of $5,000 bond.

Police said on Sunday, a 13-year-old girl was riding the bus to the Trumbull Shopping Park when she said she was assaulted.

The girl said a man later identified as Butler had gotten on the bus at a stop and took the seat next to her, according to police. They said the man pulled out a small bottle of alcohol and was drinking from it. He then allegedly stuck his hand under the girl’s rear end, police said.

The girl screamed and police said Butler got up and got off the bus at the next stop.
