MILFORD — Metropolitan Transportation Authority police officers continue to investigate after a person was fatally hit by a train near the Milford station Wednesday night, officials said on Thursday.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m., an eastbound Metro-North Railroad train hit what officials called an “unauthorized male on the tracks,” just west of the Milford train station, MTA officials said.

Officials said preliminary investigation indicated that the incident was not criminal or accidental in nature. Police continue to investigate, and will release the victim’s name once next of kin has been notified.

The fatal incident delayed the New Haven Line between Milford and New Haven.
