Local police join Special Olympics Torch Run on Friday

More than 1,200 law enforcement officers representing more than 100 communities across Connecticut are expected to participate in the 2014 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Connecticut, which started yesterday and continues until tomorrow.

Among them will be officers from Milford who will take part in the run on Friday. The local officers will run on Bridgeport Avenue, receiving the torch at the Milford/Stratford town line starting at 2:52 p.m. and passing the torch at the Milford/Orange town line at 3:44 p.m.

Several students from Jonathan Law and Foran High schools will be running with the Milford officers in a program titled “Run with the Law.”

Several businesses in Milford have shown support for the run through an “Adopt a Mile” program. Colonial Toyota of Milford has supported the Torch Run for several years by providing a support vehicle for the entire run.
